No matter where you look, it’s hard not to notice the first signs of spring: young leafy tendrils poking up from the earth, newly blossomed branches of yellow forsythia swaying gently in the breeze or full on pink frothiness of Japanese cherry blossoms decorating parks, city streets and even in the courtyards of downtown.
Spring has definitely sprung in Vancouver so much earlier than in previous years and well in advance of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival in April. Here at Stanley Park, there is evidence of spring everywhere! If you stroll over to the Rose Garden, a multitude of new shoots and buds cover the rose bushes; what’s more, spectacular plantings of daffodils and narcissus are gloriously in full bloom. Perfectly pink flowering cherry trees dot the landscape of Stanley Park, particularly at the entrance. If you wander over to Lost Lagoon, have a brief respite on a nearby bench and watch the fountain’s majestic spray of water from the middle of the lake heralding the end of winter and the beginning of a new season. Whether you prefer walking, cycling or in-line skating, Stanley Park in the spring is where the action is!
