Luminous Lights by Lord Stanley Suites

During the winter solstice, it has become a West End tradition to light up the neighborhood at English Bay (where Lord Stanley Suites is located) with some very special works of public art.

At around dusk, thousands of twinkling LED lights illuminate a trio of very prominent public art pieces situated right at the foot of the beach. Of the three, the largest is Luna the killer whale, shining bright like a diamond and providing a beacon of light in English Bay powered by 6,000 light bulbs. The other two light statues just a stone’s throw away are Stanley the blue heron and Eugenia the tree also powered by glittering LED lights; the former pays tribute to the heron colony in Stanley Park and the latter is a reference to an oak tree that graced the top of an iconic waterfront condominium for decades.

Go experience a luminous light show to brighten the darkest days of winter and to kick start the holidays, too. From all of us at Lord Stanley Suites on the Park, we wish you a very happy and joyous holiday season to you and yours!
